PE DAY: MONDAY

Homework is an important part of a child's learning. It helps to consolidate what is being taught and promotes independence and organisation. We appreciate your support in ensuring your child's homework tasks are completed.
Reading: Three times a week (Record reading on the GoRead app).
Spellings: Spelling sheet to be completed and words learned (test on Fridays).
Times Tables: Regular practicing of times tables, including through Times Table Rockstars.
English Text: We follow the Pathways to Write and Pathways to Read scheme. In writing, we will be discovering the book ‘Zeraffa Giraffa’ by Dianne Hoffmeyer. We will be creating a tourism leaflet for the Jardin des Plantes in Paris.
Reading text: In Summer 2, we will be reading ‘The Egyptian Cinderella’ this will link with our Topic in which we will be discovering Ancient Egypt. We will be learning to summarise information and to retrieve and record information from fiction.
Maths: We follow the Power Maths scheme. This term we will be focusing on statistics, length and fractions. We will be learning about equivalent fractions and how to add and subtract fractions. We will then move onto time.
History: This term our topic is “What did all four ancient civilisations have in common?” We will be learning about the Ancient Sumer, Indus Valley, Ancient Egypt and the Shang Dynasty. We will be exploring similarities and differences between each civilisation and we will be introduced them to the amazing achievements of each civilisation. We will explore when and why writing and number systems started to be used and we will find out how trade developed. We will do an in depth study of Ancient Egypt, learning about life in ancient Egypt, mummification and how they built the amazing pyramids!
Science: In Science, we will be learning about plants and exploring how water is transported within them. We will finish the Summer Term by looking at muscles, which we will link with our PE sessions.
