Curriculum Overview: Autumn Term
English
Writing:

We follow the Pathways to Write and Pathways to Read scheme. In writing, in Autumn 1, we will be reading the book ‘Meesha Makes Friends’ by Tom Percival. This text will link to our Black History month unit of work, in which we will learn about inspirational black people and their achievements. In this text, we will learn about Meesha, who finds it hard to communicate, but what her new friends don’t realise is that Meesha has a hidden talent. Our writing outcome will be to write a diary entry in the first person (Meesha) based on events in the story. In Autumn 2, we will be exploring the book, ‘Nibbles’ by Emma Yarlett. Our writing outcome will be to write a diary entry in the first person (Nibbles) based on Nibbles’ adventures in the story. We will ensure we use capital letters and full stops. We will also be learning to use the conjunction ‘and’ to link phrases.
